As best as I could write down the instructions, this is the Half Hexagon granny "square" pattern I created for the hexagon lap blanket I made for my boss' mother. I used the half hexagons to fill-in the 3-sided gaps left when the hexagons were joined.
Half Hexagon Granny "Square"
Start: ch 7, join with slip stitch in 1st ch to form loop
Row 1: ch 4 (for 1 dc, 1 ch), [3 dc, 2 ch, 3 dc, 2 ch, 3dc, ch 1] in loop, dc in 4th ch from join
Row 2: ch 4 (for 1 dc, 1 ch), turn, 2 dc in 1-ch space, skip dc, dc in next dc, skip dc, [2 dc, 2 ch, 2 dc] in 2-ch space, skip dc, dc in next dc, skip dc, [2 dc, 2 ch, 2 dc] in 2-ch space, skip dc, dc in next dc, skip dc, 2 dc in 1-ch space, 1 ch, dc in last dc (3rd ch of 4-ch stitch)
Row 3: ch 4 (for 1dc, 1 ch), turn, 2 dc in 1-ch space, skip dc, dc in next 3 dc, skip dc, [2 dc, 2 ch, 2 dc] in 2-ch space, dc in next 5 dc, [2 dc, 2 ch, 2 dc] in 2-ch space, skip dc, dc in next 3 dc, skip dc, 2 dc in 1-ch space, 1 ch, dc in last dc (3rd ch of 4-ch stitch)
Row 4: ch 4 (for 1 dc, 1 ch), turn, 2 dc in 1-ch space, skip dc, dc in each dc until last dc before 2-ch space (not including last dc), skip dc, [2 dc, 2 ch, 2 dc] in 2-ch space, dc in each dc until last dc before 2-ch space (not including last dc), [2 dc, 2 ch, 2 dc] in 2-ch space, skip dc, dc in each dc until last dc before 1-ch space (not including last dc), 2 dc in 1-ch space, 1 ch, dc in last dc (3rd ch of 4-ch stitch)
As needed to get to the correct size or one-row before the correct size, repeat Row 4.
Last Row (optional - don't do if the hexagon is at the correct size): ch 3 (1 dc), do not turn, 2 dc around side of post of last dc on previous row, [dc between that post and the next post, 2 dc around post] to starting loop, 4 dc in starting loop, [dc between that post and the next post, 2 dc around post] through last post, dc in last dc (3rd ch of 4-ch stitch)
