Since there was a full skein of the Lion Brand Homespun yarn leftover from Corinne's Courthouse Steps afghan, I decided to whip up a scarf for her on January 1. The pattern below is my own.

Fast and Easy Scarf

Use 4-ply worsted or bulky yarn and a P crochet hook. The scarf is crocheted across its length.

Starting chain: Make a LOOSE chain as long as you want the scarf to be, less about 3-4 inches for border and ends (the pictured scarf has 101 chains)

Row 1: dc in 4th ch from hook (first 3 chs count as first dc), dc in each st across (99 dc)

Rows 2 and 3: ch 1, sc in first and each st across

Row 4: ch 2 (counts as first dc), turn; dc in second and each st across

Rows 5-7: repeat Rows 2-4

Rows 8-10: repeat Rows 2-4

Border: ch 1, turn; sc in first and each st across to corner, 3 sc in corner, * 3 sc in side of each dc row and 1 sc in side of each sc row to next corner, 3 sc in corner *, sc in each st to corner, 3 sc in corner, repeat from * to *, join with sl st in first sc

First End:

Row 1: ch 1, turn; sl st in first 2 sc of last corner, ch 1, turn; sc in each st across with last sc in second sc of 3-sc corner

Row 2: ch 3, turn; dc in each st across (mark this row as right side); finish off

Second End:

Row 1: with wrong side facing, join with sc in second sc of 3-sc corner, sc in each st across with last sc in second sc of 3-sc corner

Row 2: ch 3, turn (right side is facing), dc in each st across; finish off

(These instructions are written by memory and have not been tested. Please let me know if you find errors or have questions.)
