Jazzy Beach Wrap cardigan - On hold

Colors: Black, Earth Shades (brown, black), Misty Shades (brown, tan), Slate Shades (very light blue, tan, cream), Westport Shades (blue-purple, tan-brown) (Bernat Soft Boucle)
Pattern: Jazzy Beach Wrap (cardigan)
Book: Pattern at http://www.geocities.com/fasharch3/crochet6a.jpg
Hook: G
Date: March 24, 2005; unfinished at this time

By April 13, I had finished the body of the Jazzy Beach Wrap cardigan I had been making for me and got one sleeve done. I pinned the sleeve to the body, put it on, and decided I looked way too fat in it - the horizontal stripes and a flare under the arms around the chest area are very unflattering! I was really looking forward to wearing this, but I draw the line at wearing something that so obviously makes me look larger than I am! So, the cardigan is stalled until I decide whether I want to finish it or try to pull it out, but the yarn is Bernat Boucle and it frequently snags or breaks when pulling out stitches. I'm at an impasse.

While hunting around eBay this morning, I found a color photo of the beach wrap (4th photo above) in someone's auction... Now that I see the photo larger and in color, I see that I used yarn that was too bulky. I may try again...

Lauren's Blanket - Black, Scraps

Size: 78 inches x 95 inches
Colors: Black, scraps
Pattern: (From a variety of crochet pattern books, leaflets, and some I made up on my own)
Book: Various
Hook: Mostly H
Date: March 2005

In the first photo, that's Cleo on the left and Jasmine (Jaz) in the bottom right corner.

I started this blanket February 21 and finished it March 27. It's taken me this long to get around to posting photos! And, of course, I either forgot to measure it or misplaced the measurements. I'll ask Greg to measure it for me - done: The blanket is 78 inches x 95 inches. I have photos of each of the 35 squares and will (sometime) be posting them too.

The blanket was made for Lauren (my son's girlfriend) just because. As it turns out, the blanket arrived a few days before her 25th birthday on April 18!

General descriptions of the squares are...

Row 1: Flower, Turtle (stuffed head), U.S. flag variation, Mondrian inspired, Cat (applique)

Row 2: Puffs square motif, Puffs variegated (row by row), Daisy, Zig Zag, Post textured (solid color, rows from center)

Row 3: Lion's head, Peppermint, Diagonal square motif, Heart in Puffs, Daffodil

Row 4: Square motif, Green leaves motif, Small diagonal square motif, Shells in rows, Wrapped gift

Row 5: Offset granny square, Watermelon, Blue flower granny motif, Spooky cat, Gold star

Row 6: Checkerboard, Rainbow on black and white (my own pattern), White and yellow flower, Puffs variegated (rows from center), Spiral Square

Row 7: Alternating Puffs (solid color), Post textured (variegated, row by row), Polar bear head (a teddy bear pattern in white), U.S. flag with one star, Blue flower

Size: 35 inches x 51 inches
Colors: Dark Federal Blue, Off White, Dark Brown, White (Caron Sayelle)
Pattern: Remember The Kittens by Joan Kokaska (same as Kittens in a Row)
Book: Great Big Crochet Afghan Book - Book #1329 - Copyright 2003 - American School of Needlecraft
Hook: H
Date: April 2005

I started the Cats Afghan (free pattern available at freepatterns.com) but after 5 rows decided I already wasn't having fun dealing with tangled strands of dangling yarn (and crocheting is all about fun!). So, I pulled it out and made this lap blanket with the Remember The Kittens pattern.

A short post during lunch...

Not much is or has been going on. The weather has improved in that there is sunshine instead of rain a majority of days (yippee!). The front and backyard gardens are looking great! I took photos to post, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

I've been working on crochet projects and have recently finished two...

The blanket for my son's girlfriend Lauren was finished on March 27 but photos weren't taken for a few days and I haven't had the umph to post photos for each of the 35 squares and a few of the complete blanket.

And last night I finished the Remember the Kittens lap blanket I started last week. Photos will be taken soon.

I finished the body of the Jazzy Beach Wrap cardigan I was making for me and got one sleeve done. I pinned the sleeve to the body, put it on, and decided I looked way too fat in it - the horizontal stripes and a flare under the arms around the chest area are very unflattering! I was really looking forward to wearing this, but I draw the line at wearing something that so obviously makes me look larger than I am! So, that project is stalled until I decide whether I want to finish it or try to pull it out, but the yarn is Bernat Boucle and it frequently snags or breaks when pulling out stitches. I'm at an impasse.

Last Friday, I brought a small cute project to work to keep there to crochet during the needle arts group lunchtime meeting each Friday: Ted and Tina Turtle, a pair of stuffed turtles.

Something cool: I was asked to make an afghan or something to donate to the college for an auction that will be held in September. I'm thinking of making a shawl or lap blanket because a full-size blanket takes so much time. Maybe a blanket with the college logo... I'm still thinking on it.
