June 2005 Archives

Size: 38 inches x 46 inches
Colors: Olympic Blue, Blue Jewel, Dark Old Rose, Pale Rose (Red Heart Classic)
Pattern: Bars and Squares
Book: Unique Granny Afghans by Anne Halliday - Leaflet 957 - Copyright 1990 - Leisure Arts
Hook: I
Date: June 2005

I love multicolored blankets using squares or motifs or stripes, but they take longer to finish because all the yarn ends need to be hidden. Bars and Squares is a twist on the basic granny.

Size: 36 inches x 48 inches
Colors: Scarlett (Caron Sayelle), Traditional Christmas (variegated) (Soft Creations)
Pattern: #29 by Bessie Ann Persinger
Book: Contest Favorites Mile-A-Minute Afghans - Leaflet 3144 - Copyright 1999 - Leisure Arts
Hook: G
Date: May 2005

Another fast pattern (started May 28, finished May 31)! The Caron Sayelle yarn in Scarlett is thinner than other Sayelle colors, so I teamed it with the Traditional Christmas yarn from Soft Creations from my stash. Both are 4-ply worsted, but thinner than most 4-ply worsted.

Size: 32 inches x 50 inches
Colors: Jockey Red, White, Tangerine, Orange, Midnight Blue, Emerald
Pattern: My own
Book: None
Hook: I (side panels), G (middle panel)
Date: May 2005

When I made the red and white Spotted Boxes Lap Blanket in March, I mistakenly used an I hook (instead of an H) for the second panel, so I put it aside to use in another lap blanket. And, here it is joining two additional panels. The spots in the middle panel use colors in the side panel plus green.

Size: 4 inches tall x 7.5 inches long x 6 inches wide
Colors: Paddy Green, Light Avocado (Red Heart)
Pattern: Roly Poly Turtle
Book: Vanna's Afghan and Crochet Favorites, Oxmoor House, PatternPak 85040-E, 1995
Hook: G
Date: May 2005

I've been lax in posting, but busy with projects! Roly Poly Turtle was finished on May 23. He sits next to Tommy Turtle on top of the second desk in my office at the college. He was fast to make (started May 22, finished May 23)!
