Kid's Covers, published by Creative Hands, designer: Anis Duncan, 1977 (includes Playful Kittens, Summer Carousel (with 2 horses), Jungle Friends (elephant, camel), Playful Kittens, Butterflies, Magic Castle, Circus Clown, Grandpa's Farm,)

She has one from 1979, it is marked and she needs a new one. Is it still in print? Any information you can offer will provide me some level of domestic tranquility.

Hi, Suely, Kid's Covers is not in print anymore. It can be found occasionally on eBay, so you could try there. An alternate is The Great Granny Crochet Book, published by American School of Needlework, 1979, ISBN 0-930748-10-7 (hardback book). It is easy to find - I've seen it on eBay many times - for very little money! It has a chapter on Picture Afghans that includes many of the patterns in Kid's Covers and additional patterns.

2. The Great Afghan Book, published by American School of Needlework, (no date, but certainly in the 1970s), ISBN 0-930748-19-0

I have looked for the book Kid’s Covers from Creative Hands for about two years now. My mother had it and made several Afghans for all the grandkids, and I wanted to make some for my grandkids. She loaned hers out and the person who borrowed it of course, cannot find it. Do you have any leads on where I might find one? If I had the pattern for the squares (and half/half colored squares) I could even make my own pictures.

looking for a baby afghan pattern from around 1978. it was a kit from Hershhner's called baby elegance. lost pattern. have never been able to locate. it was started off in a cathedral arch motif. each color added. panels made of 7 and then sewn together?

I just saw two copies of the Kid's Covers on e-bay, and I was lucky enough to win one of them. There were also about 3 other posts of patterns that are the picture granny squares. I have looked for years for the castle in this one booklet and am so happy to have found it. Wish I could copy it but I know how it is. Good luck, keep looking. This is the best site for information on the picture afghans.

Hi, Nelda - You can get them on ebay.com - you may have to search for them every day or two for a while, but they *are* listed. Or, you can buy "The Great Granny Crochet Book" and "The Great Afghan Book" which have quite a few granny square picture afghans. Just wanted to add another book for you that has two picture afghans - The Great Crochet Gift Book,ISBN 0806968966,1988,by American School of Needlework. Rocket And Window View. And, thanks again for doing all the work listing the pic afghans, I have been able to track down many of these books,all used and at a decent price.

I have many of the pattern books listed here. What I really need is a granny square picture afghan pattern with a jeep. (Yes I have the one with cars and trucks)

I have the picture afghans book the one with the trains on the front...got it at a yard sale for 25 cents..woo hoo...

But I would like to use these to make the Nascar logo but with my major pain issues (long story) I cant seem to wrap my brain around it...if anyone can help please let me know.

Hi, Angela - Here's a chart I made of the NASCAR logo. Each square would be a 2-row granny square. Of course, you'd need to add squares (alternating black and white squares would be great!) to make it wider.
