This is a simple picture afghan of a single flower, stem, 2 leaves, and 2 fallen petals. The free chart of the flower pattern is to the right.
The squares were crocheted following the Two-row Granny Square Pattern for Patchwork Quilt Picture Afghans I posted a few days ago. The border is something I made up as I went along: almost the same as dc in a standard up-down ripple pattern: 1 row white, 3 rows cranberry, 1 row dark sage.

i would like to find a pattern that comines both ripple and granny squares. my mother made on in the 60s. it is possible she winged it but i am not as creative as she was. if anyone has the pattern i would apprciate a copy . thanks june
Hi, June - I have searched Google and haven't found a pattern combining granny squares and ripples. However, I know it can be done!
If you've crocheted a ripple afghan, you know it goes up and down (hills and valleys). Picture granny squares laid out point to point (instead of side to side). The edges of the granny squares form hills and valleys - just like a ripple. The hills and valley of a ripple can be filled with granny squares (whipped stitched to the ripple hills and valleys) and then the ripple continued on the other side of the granny squares.
Love your flower picture afghan. I'm desperately looking for one with ballet slipper(s) for my granddaughter. Can you draw one on a graph for me? My status as a mother-in-law will go from OK to Great. Can you help me pleeeeeeeeeeease?
Thank your for your consideration.
